Village Key Privacy Policy

This privacy policy (herein referred to as the “Privacy Policy”) is created to explain how Village Key LLC (“Village Key”) collects, uses, and discloses all and any information relating to individuals (all such information is herein referred to as “Personal Information”) that users of any Village Key product and service (“Users”) submit to Village Key, or that Village Key collects from users. The collection of data takes place during Village Key operations, and typically consist of promoting exclusive deals (“Deals”) and the sale of Villager Memberships (members are herein referred to as “Villagers”) to users who wish to access Deals. Channels to collect Personal Information include, but are not limited to, electronic means such as the website (www.thevillagekey.com, herein referred to as the “Site”), emails, and social media venues. This Personal Information includes all personally identifiable information, whether or not the user intended to submit said information to Village Key.
Users are encouraged to frequently review this Privacy Policy for any updates or changes. Village Key offers no warranty or guarantee to inform users or all other third parties about the Privacy Policy or any modifications that may be made. Any Users that do not agree with any portion of the Privacy Policy must immediately cease use of any Village Key product and services, including, but not limited to, the Site and the Villager Membership.

By utilizing any Village Key product or service, Users agree to the Village Key Terms & Conditions and this Privacy Policy, and consent to having Personal Information collected, used, and disclosed according to this Privacy Policy.

1. Types of Information Collected
Village Key collects a variety of Personal Information from users during the course of its operations. This information may include, but is not limited to:

Contact Information
Contact information is all information that Village Key may utilize to contact a User. It includes names, telephone numbers, postal addresses, email addresses, social media account names, and all other addresses at which a User can be contacted.

Private Information
Private information is information that identifies characteristics about Users and their friends. It includes demographic information, information based on a User’s area of residence, information on how users utilize Village Key products and services (frequency, type, duration, etc…), current location, information posted on social media sites, and relationship information between a User and his or her friends.

Purchase Information
Purchase information is information related to the purchase of a Villager Membership and the redemption of Deals and all other Village Key services. This information includes, but is not limited to, credit and debit card information (name, number, expiration date, type, and card verification number), purchase records, information on the redemption of deals, and information of all user interaction with Village Key, Shops, and other users.

2. How Village Key Collects Information
Village Key aggregates most Personal Information through three primary venues: User submissions, Technology, and Third parties. Information may be gathered in new methods not yet mentioned or updated in this Privacy Policy.

User Submission
Users submit information to Village Key in the process of communicating with Village Key. All information submitted to Village Key in any venue is available for Village Key to aggregate. These venues include, but are not limited to, phone calls, emails, social media accounts, postal mail, and the Site.
Users also submit information when they make a purchase from Village Key. This can include contact information, credit and debit card information, and personal information.

Technology
Village Key employs several technological features that aggregate information. Using the Site can result in the automatic utilization of cookies and other technologies. These technologies serve to gather information about the user and, in particular, how he or she chooses to interacts with the Village Key Site (including preferences such as browser selection, time spent on Site, and pages visited).
Users accessing the Village Key Site from a mobile device or utilizing the Village Key mobile app will also be activating some of the same technologies as well as some tailored for a mobile User (such as current location finders).

Third Parties
Village Key also receives Personal Information from a variety of third parties, such as technology firms, financial institutions, law enforcement agencies, Shops, and other Users (typically submitted via general communications with Village Key or to facilitate the gifting of a Villager Membership).

3. How Village Key Utilizes Information
Facilitate operations
Village Key often uses Personal Information to assist in daily operations. This includes actions such as facilitating the entire purchase process, creating profiles, communicating with customers (including advertisements, announcements, news, surveys, and sweepstakes), customizing emails, advertising, monitoring security and fraud, providing customer service, and fulfilling obligations for all other Village Key services.

Business development
Personal Information is also used to develop and improve Village Key and its offerings. This includes improvements, modifications, additions, and terminations to Village Key’s products and services, as well as all research and analysis related to such actions.

Shop Interaction
Village Key uses Personal Information to advise and consult Shops in order to enhance the Village Key experience for both Shops and Villagers. This can include advice on the duration, value, and type of Deal to offer, as well how to increase business profitability in general.

4. How Village Key Discloses Information
In the course of its operations, Village Key may disclose personal information to:

• Companies owned by or controlled by Village Key (such as subsidiaries) to use in the manner described in section 3.
• Users as authorized and required by operations, such as Villager of the Week Promotions or validation checks for gifts.
• Shops, as needed to facilitate operations (such as redeeming Deals and authorizing Villager status)
• Service providers (payment processors, email providers, market analysts, etc…), as needed to continue operations
• Law enforcement and legal advisors as required or recommended to protect Village Key, the user, or other third parties
• Affiliated parties in a merger, acquisition, or other company purchase. Said third parties would then gain access to personal information as they assume the assets and rights of Village Key.

5. Security
Village Key has implemented multiple security technologies to ensure the protection of Personal Information from any unauthorized collection, use, and disclosure. Despite the efforts of Village Key, no company can fully prevent the risk of collecting and maintaining information. Furthermore, Village Key can not control the methods in which users choose to submit information, nor can it place protection on many of the processes or actions users may take in accessing the products and services of Village Key (such as submitting data via a public computer or an open network).
